Task 1
5 Regulation codes from the ASA website (BCAP Codes):
- 5.1.1- No advertisement may directly or by implication mislead about any material fact or characteristic of a product or service.
- 2.2.1 - Broadcasters must retain editorial independence and responsibility for the content and scheduling of programme.
- 5.3.1 Accurate pricing - Indications of actual or comparative prices, or the manner in which a price is to be calculated, must be accurate and must not mislead by omission, undue emphasis or distortion.
- 5.2.7 Animal testing - Claims that a product has not been tested on animals are unlikely to be acceptable.
- 6.3 Use of animals in filming - Where the behaviour of animals has been controlled for the purpose of making an advertisement, licensees must not show it without satisfactory evidence that the animals were not killed or caused pain or distress.
5 OFCOM broadcasting codes:
- 1.1 - Material that might seriously impair the physical, mental or moral development of people under eighteen must not be broadcast.
- 2.1 - Generally accepted standards must be applied to the contents of television and radio services so as to provide adequate protection for members of the public from the inclusion in such services of harmful and/or offensive material.
- 3.1 - Material likely to encourage or incite the commission of crime or to lead to disorder must not be included in television or radio services.
- 4.1 - Broadcasters must exercise the proper degree of responsibility with respect to the content of programmes which are religious programmes.
- 8.1 - Any infringement of privacy in programmes, or in connection with obtaining material included in programmes, must be warranted.
